AI & National Security Roundtable - A Resounding Success!

The AI & National Security Roundtable, hosted at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Washington, D.C., brought together some of the most distinguished minds in national security and artificial intelligence. Organized by the Cyber Security Forum Initiative (CSFI), the Slovakian Embassy, and the Slovak National Security Authority, the event successfully facilitated a high-level dialogue on the strategic use of AI in cyberspace operations, its legislative impact, unintended consequences, and policy development between the United States and European allies.

Note: A comprehensive report summarizing this dialogue will be released, capturing key AI insights shared by the panelists, moderators, and event organizers.

With opening remarks by Ambassador Radovan Javorčík, the roundtable set the stage for a robust and forward-looking discussion on the intersection of AI and national security. The event was expertly led by Rastislav Janota, Special Envoy for Cyber Security at the Slovak Embassy, and Dr. Paul de Souza, President of CSFI, who played a key role in shaping this critical discussion.

Moderated by USAF Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Gregory Touhill, Director of the CERT Division at the Software Engineering Institute, and Amanda Molina, JD, Corporate Counsel for Cloud and AI at Microsoft, the debate addressed AI’s role in cyber operations, its risks, and the path forward for responsible and effective implementation.

The panel featured leading voices in AI and cybersecurity, including:

This event marked the first in a series of critical discussions focused on AI’s role in modern warfare, its ethical implications, and the need for collaborative policymaking across allied nations. CSFI and its partners remain committed to promoting a responsible yet powerful approach to AI in national defense, ensuring that emerging technologies serve as a force multiplier for security while mitigating unintended risks.

As we continue this vital dialogue, future roundtables will further explore AI’s expanding role in cybersecurity, military applications, and transatlantic cooperation. CSFI looks forward to strengthening these partnerships and advancing policies that drive innovation and security in AI-driven operations.
